Shinji Ikari cosplay — the blue plugsuit

Shinji Ikari is the Third Child and the pilot of Unit 01, and his blue-and-white plugsuit is far less often built than Asuka's red or Rei's white. This crossplay set of ten photographs treats that as an advantage: with no established photographic template for the costume, the whole shoot is stripped back to clean minimal backdrops, gradient light, and pose.

Androgyny as the point

Shinji is written as a slight, uncertain fourteen-year-old, and the costume reads best when it is not muscled up. The set leans into an androgynous, femboy-adjacent interpretation — soft posture, clasped hands, bare feet, kneeling and floor-level framing — which is closer to the character as animated than a heroic stance would be.

The frames

Kneeling in neon light opens the set. Then a low crouch under violet-blue, a standing frame with hands clasped against a purple wall, a seated cube pose with bare feet on a neutral studio floor, a side profile against grey, a second kneeling frame in cool blue, a step forward in gradient light, a standing hands-clasped shot on a gradient background, a floor pose with gloved hands, and a full-body finale holding the red Lance of Longinus.
