Rei Ayanami cosplay — white plugsuit in the CRT studio

Rei Ayanami is the First Child, and the white plugsuit with the green accent lines is the version of her that most people picture. The shoot puts it in the same vintage-monitor studio used for the red plugsuit shoot: stacked CRTs, cables, screen glow, and saturated red and blue neon over everything.

Why the glossy finish matters

A plugsuit is supposed to be a pressure garment that vacuum-seals to the pilot. A matte fabric reads as a costume; a wet-look finish reads as the thing from the show. Under hard neon the gloss produces long specular highlights that trace the panel seams, the knee pads and the white thigh-high boots, and most of the frames here are lit to exploit that rather than to flatten it.

The set, and the catgirl frames

Ten photos: seated among the monitors, a deep squat, lounging along a stack of CRTs, a portrait on the green accents and zipper detail, a rear view in blue neon, a wide-leg power stance, a close frame on the boots under green light, and a reclining shot under a multicolour gradient. Two frames add cat ears and a tail over the plugsuit — a deliberate break in register that has become its own small genre in Evangelion cosplay.
