Yor Forger cosplay from Spy x Family — the Thorn Princess

By day Yor Forger is a clerk at Berlint City Hall and the slightly awkward wife of Loid Forger. By night she is the Thorn Princess, an assassin for the Garden. Her husband is secretly a spy, she is secretly a killer, and only their telepathic daughter Anya knows about both. Spy x Family gets most of its comedy from the gap between those two lives; this gallery dresses only the second one.

The costume

The Thorn Princess dress in black: bare shoulders crossed by thin straps, a layered strap collar with a small pendant, glossy piping down the bodice, and a short front framed by two long side panels lined in red rose-print fabric. Below it, black patent thigh-high boots with a cage of straps around the tops. The gold headband carries a rose above each ear. The weapons are Yor's pair of gold stilettos with ring pommels, and there is one in each hand in every photograph.

Six sets, one studio

Crimson drapery on the floor for an overhead frame of Yor lying on her back, her head on a framed print. A black leather sofa against a charcoal wall, with cow-print cushions and a glass coffee table, for two reclining frames. Sheer white curtains for two full-length poses — one lunging at the camera, one leaning back with an arm raised. Pale arches and a black curtain for a half-length portrait and two frames with a red wire-mesh chair. A red curtain for a front-on pose with both blades drawn, and a warm wall crossed by the shadow of a window frame for a standing shot with her silhouette beside her.

Poise rather than action

Only one photograph attacks. The rest show the Thorn Princess between jobs: a stiletto resting against a boot, both blades lying in her lap on the sofa, a glance away from the camera as if someone has just come to the door. Calm, polite and armed — which is the whole character.
