Ryuko Matoi cosplay — the classroom set

Ryuko Matoi spends most of Kill la Kill fighting her way through Honnouji Academy, so building the set as a classroom rather than a backdrop puts the character where the story actually happens. Chalkboards covered in equations, wooden desks, a stool and stacked textbooks make up the room; ten photos were shot inside it, each one re-lit in a different neon colour.

Costume and prop

The outfit is the cropped Senketsu-inspired school uniform with red strap accents and red gloves, worn with the crimson streak in the black hair. The Scissor Blade is oversized and carried as a real prop — over the shoulder, hooked on a desk, arcing overhead — which is what gives the set its diagonals.

Colour map

Blue opens the set with a crouch in front of the chalkboards and closes it with a tight portrait on the crimson hair streak. Warm amber holds the cross-legged frame with the blade raised and the stool shot beside the textbooks. Magenta-violet carries the blade-on-shoulder pose, the desk lean and the wide combat stance. Red neon covers the top-down crouch, and emerald green takes the side-profile frame and the overhead blade arc.
