Midway through the set, Ryuko Matoi leans into a black classroom desk, one bare palm spread flat on its top and one knee bent, and meets the camera with a direct, calm look. A wide horizontal crop ends at mid-thigh, with the lens at about waist height.

The room behind her glows a warm red-orange: a chalkboard of formulas, bookshelves, a cactus, a lamp and framed portraits. The Scissor Blade is out of her hands here, lying flat on a desk to one side and half hidden by stacked books. Her other hand hangs by her hip in a red fingerless glove marked in black, and the red streak in her hair curls outward.

The cropped navy top, red tie and black chest piece with its small white cross follow Senketsu, the living sailor uniform Ryuko wears in Kill la Kill.
