Shot from steeply overhead, Ryuko Matoi crouches low on a wooden floor. Her bare hand is planted on the boards with the fingers spread, and the gloved hand holds the Scissor Blade upright behind her, the red blade running nearly the full height of the picture. She tips her face up and looks directly into the lens, serious and focused.

Red and pink neon comes from above and below. A glow under a nearby desk throws grid-like shadows across the floorboards, and the desk, its books and a black chair cut sharp shapes into the red. The light edges the layers of the wig and the seams of the uniform.

It is the only top-down view in the set, and the angle turns the classroom floor into the backdrop, with the blade as the one long line through a compact crouch.
