D.Va cosplay — a summer day at a pool villa

D.Va is Hana Song, the former pro gamer who pilots a pink MEKA mech for South Korea in Overwatch — the bunny logo, the pink cheek stripes and the blue pilot suit are known to every player. The first D.Va gallery on this site was shot under neon in a gamer bedroom. This one takes her out of the cockpit and into the sun: a hot morning at a hillside villa with an infinity pool, loungers and a view over green hills to the sea.

The costume

The pilot suit becomes a one-piece swimsuit: bright blue with a white high collar and a small pink notch, a pink chevron across the chest, dark navy side panels and pink-and-navy stripes at the hips, with D.Va's white bunny logo outlined in pink on the chest. White thigh-high stockings carry the rest of the suit as a print — blue knee pads crossed with pink straps, a bunny on each shin and the MEKA logo on the outer thigh. A long chestnut wig with a side-swept fringe, two pink triangle stripes on each cheek and pale blue nails finish the look.

The location

The villa terrace gives the set three backdrops. On one side, dark loungers under cream umbrellas face a pool with blue mosaic tiles and a wide view of forested hills, white houses on the slopes and the sea on the horizon. On the other, a wicker egg chair hangs against a bright orange wooden fence and a white wall striped with its lattice shadows. Hard morning sun and deep shadows suit the colours of the suit — the blue of the swimsuit matches the pool, and the pink stripes pop against the orange wood.

The ten frames

The cover is a relaxed recline on a lounger in the shade of an umbrella, with the infinity pool, the hills and the sea behind. Next comes a confident frame in the egg chair, legs crossed and fingertips at the lip, then a wink from a green lounger in a narrow sunlit passage. A hand at the temple against the hazy hills follows, then a wink with the arms crossed above the head by the pool. Back in the egg chair, she reaches down to touch her toes; on the terrace she straightens a stocking with the hills behind, and on another lounger she turns her face to the sun with her eyes closed. A wide frame from above shows her sitting cross-legged on the corner of the pool, mirrored in the water, and the last frame is a wide smile with the hands clasped on one knee.
