Daylight through a wall of shoji lattice windows fills the back of a bedroom at the inn. Asuka Langley half-sits on a wide bed with crumpled white bedding, leaning back on her right hand, knees bent at different angles and head tipped toward her right shoulder. Her torso angles about three-quarters to the right, but the gaze comes straight back to the lens, soft and calm.

A slightly high camera lays the pose out across the bed. The light is soft and low in contrast, diffused daylight from the paper windows plus a warm line of light at the headboard. The diagonal of the body makes the red swimsuit, white stockings and orange twin tails one large three-color shape against the white sheets, edged by a dark wooden bed frame and a small bolster pillow.
