A traditional tatami room at the inn, with the lit tokonoma alcove behind the figure. Asuka Langley half-reclines on her left arm on the dark tatami, one leg folded to the side and the other stretched out, her right hand tucked behind her head. She is turned about three-quarters to the left and gazes up and away with a dreamy, aloof expression.

Warm light comes from the alcove, which holds hanging scroll art with a plant motif, gold panels and a vase of branches with blue flowers; a soft fill from the front keeps the face clear while the edges of the room fall into deep shadow. From slightly above, her relaxed diagonal runs along the floor beneath the vertical line of the scroll and the vase.

Against gold, dark wood and tatami, the red swimsuit is the main point of color in the room.
