Neon Genesis Evangelion

Purple smoke hangs thick in the middle of the frame, between two red light tubes at its edges. Asuka Langley sits on the studio floor in front of it, one leg drawn up and the other folded under, torso turned three-quarters, one hand braced on the floor behind her and the other lifted. The camera looks down on her slightly and takes in the whole seated figure.

The background works in three layers: crinkled foil at the back, blue on the left and red on the right; soft smoke in the middle; and the white suit sharp in front. Pink-purple light lands on the right shoulder and arm, tying the costume into the color around it. The auburn twin tails frame the face, and a tall white heel shows in profile at the side.
