Photo 2 of 10

Both arms locked straight out in a two-handed grip, Samus Aran sits on a white sofa and aims the Paralyzer off to one side. The barrel points out of the frame, so the frame plays as a standoff with someone the viewer cannot see. Her eyes follow the barrel, focused, with a faint smile; the vertical frame, shot at chest height, runs from head to shins.

Her legs are folded on the seat with bare feet tucked among them. Pink neon washes the cushions, the paneled wall and the space beneath the sofa, and the blue bodysuit stays the one cool color in the room, its printed panels in pale blue, white and navy following the lines of the arms and torso.

In Metroid: Zero Mission the Zero Suit is what Samus wears beneath the Power Suit, and once the armor is gone the Paralyzer is the only weapon she has left.
