A waist-up portrait at a busy Akihabara intersection, shot at chest height. Misato Katsuragi faces the camera squarely with her arms crossed and her head tipped slightly to one side, her expression calm and a little pensive.

Because the frame is so close, the glossy red jacket carries much of it, catching bright highlights across its surface while the light on her face stays soft. The pose itself is symmetrical, and the slight tilt of the head is the only break in it.

The street behind her dissolves into soft shapes: pedestrians, bicycles and their riders, pieces of buildings and a red Japanese sign. A red traffic light in the background repeats the color of the jacket and ties the figure to the crossing.
