Black takes over the backdrop again, above a cool gray floor, and the red of the Lance almost disappears into the dark upper half of the picture; only its two-pronged silhouette still reads at the top. Focused light from the front lays precise highlights along the plugsuit and separates it from the surrounding dark space.

Shot from slightly below, the composition rests on two verticals, the shaft and the lowered leg, crossed by the horizontal of the bent thigh.
