Shot from below and close up, Esdeath sits on the white pouf and holds a black braided whip in both hands, folded into a loop at her chest, with the handle hanging straight down. She looks down into the lens from under half-closed eyelids — cold and amused at once.

The low camera makes the figure loom over the viewer and puts the cap, the long blue hair and the black cuffs in strong outline against the white doors and the plaster medallion on the wall above. The light comes softly from the front and above.

The angle does the storytelling here: the viewer is the one being looked down on.
