Sousou no Frieren

Photo 8 of 10

A strict left profile against aged stone. Frieren stands beside the wall with her shoulders parallel to it and her arm relaxed at her side, looking out to the left past the edge of the frame with a calm, neutral expression. The long silver hair falls in smooth layers down her back and over the white dress.

The camera sits at chest height and takes in the figure down to the thighs. What holds the picture together is a contrast of direction: the straight vertical of the body and hair against the uneven horizontal seams of the rough masonry. The side view also brings out details a frontal pose would hide, such as the pointed elf ear clearly outlined and a small red stone on the cuff, while the gold trim runs cleanly along the edges of the costume.

Very little moves in the frame, and the stillness is the point.
