Resting his head on one gloved hand, 9S sits close to the camera with a knee drawn up and the hilt of his sword near his head. The torso turns three-quarters to the right and leans into the palm, and he looks straight into the lens with a calm, thoughtful expression.

The camera stays at face height. Soft studio light keeps the shadows gentle and shows the tailoring of the black YoRHa coat: the silver fringe and the black glove frame the face, and the line of gold buttons runs down toward the raised knee. The plain background keeps anything else out of the picture.

The silver hilt is the only reference to combat in the picture. It sits close to the head instead of pointing at the viewer, so the frame reads as an intimate pause rather than a fight.
